HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in Remote or Isolated Site (superseded HLTAID005 Provide First Aid in Remote Situations)

This first aid course is specifically designed to meet the first aid needs of bushwalkers, wilderness guides, and people who work or live in remote locations. The course covers everything from comprehensive first aid treatments to aeromedical evacuation, long-term care, self-care and contingency planning. This course is focused on the safety of the first aider and extended care of an ill or injured casualty where help is likely to be delayed or inaccessible.
Assessment is through a combination of practical first aid activities and a written test paper. You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.
Pre-requisites:
Participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and email access. As an assessment requirement of the HLTAID009 unit, participants must be able to perform at least 2 minutes (5 cycles) of CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin that is placed on the floor.

Mode of Delivery: e-Learning plus face-to-face classroom training and assessment
Duration : Complete E-Learning, and
3-day attendance for practical assessment, or
4-day face to face training sessions available
Course Format : This is a blended course with self-paced online learning (e-Learning) and face-to-face training. Before attending the face-to-face training, students need to complete their e-Learning, which can be done in one sitting or over several sessions.

This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), remote area first aid, the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Hence, a diploma in first aid will certify the learner to undertake the duties and job of a first aid provider. Our instructors are trained first aid providers, therefore, apply for first aid course (NSTA) to gain a diploma.
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings, NSTA can offer the following first aid courses in our professional training centres or in your own workplace.
